What an action packed and fun filled semester the Gamma Phi chapter has had! From socials, to Greek Sing, and the one and only Carnation Ball, we could not have asked for a better end to our year! Here’s a recap of all that we did:

Greek Sing

Our Barbie Girls rocked it on the Greek Sing dance floor. In April, 40 of our chapter members performed their “Barbie” themed dance routine after months of hard work. The rest of the chapter had so much fun getting decked out in their Gamma  Phi gear, making signs for their friends, and cheering as loud as they could from the stands.

Socials

We continued to ring in 2019 with our New Year’s social to kick off the spring! Throughout the semester we got to dress up and hang out with our sisters with our Biker Ball, Mardi Gras Masquerade, and Drop it like it’s Yacht socials! To end the semester on a high note we were surprised with a H.A.G.S (Have A Great Summer!) social during our last week of classes!

Carnation Ball

It only comes every four years and it was so worth it! This year we had the Carnation Ball in place of our usual spring formal. This is a quadrennial event where every member of the Gamma Phi Chapter wears a white long dress, while our current president wears a pink one. The event was held in Lake Martin and we could not have had more fun dancing with not only a band, but also a DJ!

Girls on the Run

We had another great season with Girls on the Run! We had chapter members coach local teams all throughout the semester with the season cumulating the day after finals with the annual Girls on the Run River Region 5k! We are so proud of all of our girls and couldn’t love our philanthropic mission of Building Strong Girls More!

Taylor Ogle, PC ‘17 & spring GOTR Coach

“My experience of coaching started out with me thinking I’d make an impact on the girls, but really they made such a big impact on me. They made me think of how I could choose to live my life in a way that a younger version of myself would be proud of and want to look up too.”

Graduating Seniors

We’re so sad to see this semester go, especially because it means PC ‘15 is graduating! Although we are going to miss them, we cannot wait to watch them take on the world. To show them a token of the chapter’s appreciation they had a special senior dinner at Amsterdam Cafe. On our final chapter of the year they were given buddy bags from underclassmen, snacked on sweet treats and one of their favorite meals, and laughed and cried at the senior class video that was made for them by one of the members of PC’18. Thank you so much to all of them for their hard work and commitment to our chapter throughout their four years.

Parents Weekend

This semester, our Parents Weekend was a tailgate before A-Day, our spring football game. It was so fun to enjoy the spring day with our families, while joying tacos, raffles, and a photo booth before we headed to Jordan-Hare Stadium! We loved seeing our Dance Line and Majorette girls on the sidelines and it only got us even more excited for fall football to return to The Plains!

Moonball

Our spring philanthropy event Moonball, which is a 4 vs. 4 basketball tournament, raised almost 12 thousand dollars for Girls on the Run! It was such a fun day watching the 13 different teams compete to be the Moonball champion while our chapter cheered them all on!

And that's a wrap on the 2019 spring semester for the Gamma Phi chapter! Although we are sad to see this year go, we couldn’t have had a better year and are so excited to be back with our sisters in August! Make sure to keep up with us this summer on Instagram, VSCO, and Facebook to see more about what we’re up to and find out when our next blog post is up!
